The art of pattern fabrics has been known since high antiquity. There were various manufacturing techniques of hand painting that up to the mid-twentieth century remained more or less unchanged at textile manufactories.

The design of our "Once upon a time there was Kokosha" caret is inspired by vat prints. The special “Vap” solution was applied to an uncolored canvas, after which the fabric was plunged in a dye kier – the so called "cube". When the fabric was pulled out, the white pattern remained on the "Vap" application site. Apparel, tablecloths and curtains were tailored from such prints. The pattering scope was variegated - from fine ornamental pattern to small subject compositions.
