The horse is one of the most revered animals by Slavs, its image being among the most ancient in the decorative art. Horse depictions can be found in folk embroidery, lace, on household commodities.
In the Palekh miniature painting - craftwork that originated from the pre-Peter Palekh iconography - the horse image occupies a special place. Russian Troika is a favorite subject of miniature lacquer painting. Troika is purely Russian, national concept grown from the folk life and closely tied with it. Troika is associated with folk festivals, landscape wideness and endless expanses of Russia.
Inspired by these images, we depicted the Forehorse on the shawl, i.e. the central horse in Troika that goes at a trot and differs from trace horses by larger size and stature.
The design is executed in several color layouts.
