The Kuskovo estate is the 18th-century unique cultural monument, one of the
earliest samples of the Russian summer country residences. The estate was built on
a commission of counts Sheremetev and was intended for lavish entertainment
events, populous theatrical performances and festivities. Its main construction, the
palace, has entirely preserved original architectural features, as well as interior
design and interior decoration. Halls and rooms are richly decorated with gypsum
and papier-mâché elements, mirrors and gilding. The palace interiors are executed
after the Classical architecture fashion with the notes of Pompey style. The palace
heating system assumed arrangement of a fireplace or a furnace in each room. All
of the fireplaces are gorgeously finished with ceramic plates, stucco moldings and
tiles.
In the fabric pattern we have combined art elements from the different
furnaces of the palace in one fantasy composition. The panel picture located in the
centre is executed in the old Roman style and patterned after a one-of- a-kind pearl
of the palace, the tiled stove from the pictorial room. The stove is painted with the
gentle-blue ornament and has preserved its brightness and original appearance until
our days.
