The painting is inspired by Kenozersky distaffs of the late 19th century.
Kenozersky distaffs are among the most colorful and gaily decorated Russian distaffs. They were crafted in Kargopolsky district around Kenozero Lake. These distaffs were richly decorated. The blade of spinning wheels was adorned with triangular incised carving. Shining ground-color covered the intact wooden surface; different colors highlighted the carving, while the background was dabbed by brushing flower ornament. Kenozersky distaffs are fabulously decorative and may adorn any interior.
The design is executed in several color layouts.
